Where do I start?
Titlewave offers many different tools to help you find exactly what you need. The two main routes to beginning a search are the search bar at the top of every page and Collection Development. The search bar is a quick way to search by media type. A Collection Development search allows you to specify up to 13 different criteria to narrow down what you are looking for.
What do the interest-level filters on the right side of the screen do?
The filters are another way to help you narrow down exactly what you are looking for. By clicking on one of the interest-level links, the search results will only show you the titles that fall within that interest-level range. If you want to look at another interest-level range, just click on the link — no need to go back to the full search results to start again. To see all the interest levels at once again, click on the “All Interest Levels” link.
How do I find out more information about a title?
The blue icon on the left of every title in a search result is your link to the Title Detail page.
If a title is not found on Titlewave, does that mean it is unavailable?
If the title you were looking for did not appear in your search results, it does not always mean it is unavailable. There are a few things to check:
- Do you have the correct spelling for title and author?
- Were you searching using the right media type options, i.e., searching for a book using book options in the pull-down menus or in Collection Development?
- If you used Collection Development, you may have limited your search by selecting too many criteria. Try removing some requirements to see more results.
If you still can’t find what you are looking for, use our Add Custom Title form. The link to the form is found at the bottom of all search result pages and can be used to tell us exactly what you are looking for. You can also contact our Library Service Consultants for assistance at 888.511.5114 ext. 1164 or 815.759.1700, or e-mail lsc@flr.follett.com.
How do I search for books that are not in English or are bilingual?
Using Collection Development, type a keyword into the Search box, including “bilingual” if you want bilingual titles. Then choose the language you are looking for in the Languages box. If you are looking for books of more than one language, hold the CTRL key on a PC or Command (Apple) key on a Mac while clicking on the languages. After selecting the language or languages, click the Search: Books button to see your results.
Foreign language titles are marked with a world icon and list the language they are in.
How do I search for Accelerated Reader quizzes?
If you are on the Titlewave home page, see if you have the box checked next to the Accelerated Reader in the lower-right corner of the page. If not, select the reading program or programs you would like enabled and click the Save button.
Once you have Accelerated Reader program options enabled, use the Accelerated Reader link in the Collection Development area to find quizzes.
If you are already looking at search results or are working in a list, use the Collection Development links in the lower-left corner of the page to select Accelerated Reader.
How do I search for a set by title or number?
On the Titlewave home page, click on the Book Sets, Series and State Lists link to do a Collection Development search that allows you to specify up to 5 different criteria. You can also use the search bar by selecting All of Titlewave, Books, Sets & Series, or FLR Set Number from the pull-down menu and entering the appropriate search criteria.
Are there any size restrictions on how many search results I get back?
To maximize Titlewave’s performance, we limit search results to 2,500 titles. If you are having trouble finding what you want within those 2,500 results, adding specific search criteria using Collection Development can help. For example, typing only the keyword “animals” returns more than 2,500 results. Instead, try searching on the keyword “animals” and the interest level K-3 to narrow down the results.
How do I know if a CD-ROM is a network version?
